The Lady Yellow Jackets survived three Towns County 3-pointers in the final quarter as they hung on for a 36-33 JV girls basketball win at Hayesville on Friday, Dec. 6.

While the Indians relied on the long ball, Hayesville put the game away during the final period on three baskets by Ava Moore, a bucket by Danielle Anderson and two free throws by Micalynn McClure.

Moore finished with a game-high 14 points. Anderson and McClure added 8 apiece. Olivia Free and Aaliyah Jackson each scored 2.

Hayesville held a commanding 10-point lead at the half after outscoring Towns County 12-3 in the second quarter with a pair of field goals by Free — one off a steal — a make by Moore and 3-pointers from McClure and Anderson. Those treys were Hayesville’s only baskets from distance on the night.

Towns County, on the other hand, made six 3-pointers. The Indians also made 20 turnovers, compared to 13 by Hayesville.
