The Lady Yellow Jackets hope to rediscover their softball hitting eyes this week after a frustratingly unproductive whitewash at Swain County last Tuesday.
Hayesville managed just three singles and only had one runner advance past second base as Swain coasted to a 14-0 Smoky Mountain Conference victory on the strong arm of Maroon Devils hurler Rylee Rawls.
Hayesville’s first hit was a one-out drive to right field by Danielle Anderson and the hardest hit fair ball by a Lady Jacket.
Hayesville’s only other hits came in the final inning with one out. Brooklyn Smith started the mini rally with a bloop over the shortstop’s head and Isabella Mintz followed with a Texas Leaguer to right. Both advanced on Kyla Bauer’s sacrifice, but both were stranded when Micalynn McClure socked a grounder but was called out on a close play at first.
The Lady Jackets hosted Murphy on Tuesday and play at Murphy on Friday.
