Hayesville Middle School Track traveled to Cherokee, N.C. on Monday, March 25 to compete against Cherokee, Swain, Canton Middle and Murphy. After injuries of some players HMS still finished second in both the womens and mens teams.
Even with the rocky events, the women's 4x400 relay team showed out by not only winning the event but also setting a new school record with a time of 4:49.58. Members of that relay team include Marleigh Lowe, Emily Dowling, Libbie Moore and Micalynn McClure. Way to go ladies.
Head Coach Kenneth Dockery is proud of this team stating that he is “Proud of the effort from the kids. It was a good experience getting to run on Cherokee’s track because that is where the championship will be held. It was good to see the girls 4x400 team break the school record.”
Track meets start at 3:30 p.m. HMS will wrap up the regular season in Robbinsville on Monday, April 15. The Smoky Mountain Conference championship will be held in Cherokee on Monday, April 22. Come out and support this record setting team.
