Mountain Lakes Pickleball will be providing beginner level skill clinics for anyone in the area who is interested in learning to play the game. The clinics will be held on the outdoor courts at the Clay County Sports Complex on Thursday, July 29 and Thursday, Aug. 12 at 10 a.m.

The beginner clinics will be led by Hayesville native Harry Jarrett, a long-time pickleball player, who was instrumental in introducing the game to this region several years ago. Jarrett is an experienced instructor and has led many clinics for both beginning and intermediate level players. He welcomes all interested individuals and is known for his patience and encouragement of beginners.

Loaner paddles will be available at each clinic. The clinics will be rescheduled if weather is not suitable. Anyone with additional questions or to pre-register may call Jarrett at (828) 361-9061. Pre-registration is not required.

Pickleball is an easily-learned game that is often described as a combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong. It is currently the fastest growing sport in the United States and other countries. The game is suitable for all ages and is considered multi-generational as all ages enjoy playing the game together, from retirees to young adults to children.

Mountain Lakes Pickleball invites area players to join their group for outdoor and indoor play beginning at 8 a.m. each weekday morning.
