SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Western Carolina women’s basketball opened Southern Conference play with a 72-48 loss at Wofford Thursday at Jerry Richardson Stadium.
Turning Point:
A tight game, with Wofford leading 35-30 with 9:16 left in the third quarter, ballooned out of control when Wofford scored 12 consecutive points and held Western Carolina to seven points. Western Carolina could not recover.
Individual Leaders
- Sophomore Zanoria Cruz led the Catamounts with 11 points.
- Sophomore Joi Reid had a career-high four blocks. She also had eight points and five rebounds.
- Junior Vanessa Oduah added 10 points.
- Wofford’s Jackie Carman led all scorers with 17 points.
