Hayesville took a hard fall to Asheville School 49-7 at the Hive on Friday night. Despite the score, there were a few positives in the game.

“We knew going in they would be hard to stop offensively,” Hayesville Coach Chad McClure said. “I was pleased with our offensive line, as they gave us good running lanes most of the night. Our backs ran hard. We converted our only attempted PAT and recovered an onside kick.” Mason Margo added the extra point with the PAT.

In the first quarter Tre Graves had a 5-yard run, followed by Mason Margo's kick. Graves made several run attempts; however, most were unsuccessful. These boys played hard but Asheville is a tough school.

Graves led the team with 21 carries, 122 yards and one touchdown. Dawson Devane had 14 carries and 81 yards.

Micheal Mauney led the Yellow Jacket defense with 4.5 tackles

Hayesville 0-1 is off this coming weekend but is scheduled to play at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6 at Andrews High School.
