Athletes from Hayesville High School travelled to Cherokee Friday, June 18 for the Western Regional track and field competition. The boys team had a strong performances which earned them a second place finish overall. Along with that success, HHS had multiple athletes qualify for the state championships.
Boys individual state qualifiers:
Shot put: Jake McTaggart, second place.
Discus: Jake McTaggart, first place.
Long Jump: Brady Shook, second place.
Triple Jump: Brady Shook, third place.
High Jump: Rylen Snowden, first place; Brady Shook, third place.
4x800 meter relay: Justin Bradley, Bryan Davenport, Cable Krieger, Landon Hughes, fourth place.
400 meter dash: Paul White, fourth place.
300 meter hurdles: Ryelan Snowden first place; Bryan Davenport, fourth place.
4x400 meter relay: Ryelan Snowden, Brady Shook, Bryan Davenport, Paul White, fourth place.
Girls individual state qualifiers:
High jump: Ashlyn Leatherwood, second place.
4x800 meter relay: Star Shelton, Lila Roberts, Emma Shook, Kaysen Krieger, third place.
100 meter hurdles: Emma Shook, fourth place.
300 meter hurdles: Emma Shook, second place.
800 meter run: Kaysen Krieger, third place.
4x400 meter relay: Star Shelton, Lila Roberts, Emma Shook, Kaysen Krieger, second place.
