Jacob Lloyd Henderson
At 10:40 a.m. Monday, July 6 Clay County Officer Bronson Kirby responded to 631 Bethabara Road in Hayesville after an anonymous call had been received about a dog that was being mistreated.
Kirby was met by Jacob Lloyd Henderson, 23 years of age, who resided at this residence. When told about this anonymous report, Henderson directed Kirby to an old plastic doghouse. Kirby found a medium sized black and white dog confined by a chain, without water and severely malnourished. He photographed and made notes as to the dog’s condition.
A few hours later, Kirby and Clay County Sgt Will Suggs returned to the residence, seized the dog and transported it to Big Bear Veterinary Clinic in Hayesville.
Henderson signed custody of the dog over to Big Bear Veterinary Clinic where Dr. Lawlor provided treatment which saved its life. Based on information provided by Lawlor, the condition of the dog was a result of abuse and neglect over a period of four to six months.
On Wednesday, July 15 Clay County Officers Nate Rogers and Sean Stout arrested Henderson for the crime of cruelty to an animal. He was issued a $500 bond for his release.
