If you ever wanted to earn your Amateur (“Ham”) Radio License, here’s your chance.
Clay County AUXCOMM, the Clay County based Emergency Communications group, and the WCARS Radio Club of Murphy, will offer a free Amateur Radio Technician License class in Clay County. Successful students will earn the Technician Class license, the first step in the three levels of Amateur Radio Licenses.
The class will be held on Tuesday evenings, beginning March 15, 2022, and ending May 17, 2022, from 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM, in the Multi-Purpose Room at the new Clay County Courthouse. Preference will be given first to Clay and Towns County residents, and then open to any interested persons.
There is no charge to attend the class, but you must purchase the current, 4th edition of the official ARRL Ham Radio Licensing Manual, either through ARRL, or order through Amazon (further details furnished after registration), plus a discounted exam fee to take the Licensing Test at the end of the course (testing optional).
You must register your interest in attending by sending an email to Larry J. Ford, K4AEC, at k4aec@arrl.net and/or to Ron Parks, KX4IU, at ronparks1@frontier.com in order to reserve a seat in the class.
