Artifacts from family collection donated

  Don Greear (D) and his brothers Lynn and Ken grew up in Clay County. With Don’s passing his brother, Lynn and family decided to give back a part of the past to Clay County donating their brother’s historical artifacts from years gone by to Clay County.

Weekend brings Festival on the Square

By Lorrie Ross Staff Writer   One of the most anticipated events of the year arrives this weekend. The 44th Festival on the Square kicks off with a good old-fashioned foot-stomping street dance. Starting at 7 p.m.

A stellar 4th

Visitors and locals made up large crowds for the annual July Fourth Freedom Festival and parade as well as for the fireworks display at Lake Chatuge. Crowds lined corners of the square to catch a glimpse of the ever-growing parade and in hopes of catching a few pieces of candy.

Clay County School Board approves budgets

Modifications to spillway refined, draw-down revised

By Marcia Barnes Staff Writer   While Tennessee Valley Authority continues to study safety issues at the 83-year-old Chatuge Dam, Chris Saucier provided an update on Wednesday, June 25 on refinements to modifications which are still being considered to fix the spillway.
