Associates can help solve brick wall problems

If you are having trouble solving brick wall genealogy problems, you might be able to use a relatives associates to aid in your research. Often, they are relatives themselves. Other times, they may just be clues to where the family came from. In a society, people interact with others.

It's time to show our resilience

Opinion pages don’t reflect both parties I find that the Clay County Progress opinion section is very biased against President Trump. It is hard to find a conservative viewpoint in this newspaper. If it does publish a conservative viewpoint it is offset by more than one liberal viewpoint.

Mail-in voting here a very smooth process This is a public thank you to the Clay County Board of Elections. This year we voted by absentee ballot. North Carolina ballots were mailed on Sept. 4. Ours were completed and returned and are confirmed as accepted by the BOE on Sept. 19.

COVID stories are unique but all are connected

In a society where seemingly everything can be a tool of division, I think there is one thing we can agree on. The day when COVID is a word lost to history will be a happy one. Whether you’ve had the virus or not, everyone’s life has been impacted in some way.

Local 9/11 service elicits memories from war Memories: Standing among the crowd at a ceremony remembering the events of 9/11, I looked around at all the people knowing that each one has a story. There was music of patriotic songs and several speakers with kind words of remembrance.
