Unanimous three-judge panel upholds N.C. election maps, appeal likely

A unanimous three-judge panel has upheld North Carolina's new congressional and legislative election maps. The panel of two Republican Superior Court judges and one Democratic colleague rejected critics' arguments that mapmakers engaged in unconstitutional partisan and racial gerrymandering.

Treasurer Backs 2% Pension Supplement for Local Government Retirees

PRESS RELEASE State Treasurer Dale R. Folwell, CPA, is throwing his support behind a 2% pension supplement for retirees of local governments.    The budget enacted by the General Assembly and signed by Gov. Roy Cooper provided for a 2% pension supplement this year for state retirees.

Cooper signs new order pushing state toward electric vehicles

Gov. Roy Cooper signed an executive order Friday, Jan. 7, that aims to reduce greenhouse gases to net-zero by 2050. Cooper also wants to transition all state vehicles to electric and to enhance goals for drivers to switch to electric and other zero-emission vehicles.

Durham poised to send $500 checks to ex-cons in basic income pilot
