Burn prevention with children

If you have children in your home,you want to keep them safe and help them live to their full potential. According to the CDC, every day, more than 300 children from the ages of 0-19 are in emergency rooms for burn related injuries.

WCU to offer online grant writing certificate program

Western Carolina University’s Office of Professional Growth and Enrichment will be offering an online grant writing certificate program entitled, “Grant Writing in Action: Skills and Abilities,” from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, Thursday-Friday, Oct. 14-15 and Thursday-Friday, Oct.

Grove honored for service

Members of the Brasstown Fire Department’s former Board of Directors, joined former officers,  Clay County Fire and Rescue Asst. Chief Chris Denton, and Clay County Commissioner Clay Logan met recently to honor long-time Brasstown Fire Department volunteer Judy Grove.

Council offers town residents money for vaccination proof

 In a bold step to clean up the town and keep its residents healthier, the Hayesville Town Council is offering a financial “token of appreciation” to citizens who can provide proof they are indeed town residents and have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.

Community Invited to Hinton Anniversary Celebration

Hinton Rural Life Center is celebrating 60 years of ministry on Saturday, Sept. 25, beginning with worship at First United Methodist Church in Hayesville, and the community is invited. The service will be 11:00am to 12:15pm in the sanctuary, with masks required.

Corsair to be on display

As the time draws closer to the Welcome Home event, several different planes have agreed to come to the airport this year for the display. The Corsair will be on the field and in doing research on the plane, I can honestly say this plane has a lot more history than room allows to cover.
