Trails and Rails stand out in state contest

Rylee Kitchens crowned queen at GMF beauty contest

By Deby Jo Ferguson Staff Writer   Rylee Kitchens, 21, of Towns County, Ga. was crowned queen at the 2024 Georgia Mountain Fair Beauty Contest and was also named Miss Congeniality and awarded for her talent performing the song Hallelujah. Kitchens is a 2020 Towns County High School graduate.

Spreading goodwill in our communities

By Phil Goble Jr. Guest Writer   Mount Pleasant Baptist Church joined hundreds of churches across the state Aug. 3-10 in a joint initiative called ServeNC, which had them all stepping outside their walls and into their communities. More than 1,000 churches across the state participated.

Town Council welcomes England

By Lorraine Bennett Staff Writer   The Hayesville Town Council welcomed new member Benita England, a replacement for Councilman Austin Hedden, who has moved out of the town limits. The council also is moving ahead with a landscaping upgrade around Town Hall.
