State Supreme Court strikes down N.C. election maps with 4-3 vote

By Mitch Kokai, Carolina Journal     The N.C. Supreme Court has rejected state congressional and legislative election maps with a party-line 4-3 vote. The court's four Democratic justices agreed to strike down maps drawn by a Republican-led legislature. State lawmakers will have until Feb.

Firefighters battle weekend blazes

Firefighters with Clay County Fire and Rescue kept up a steady pace over the weekend responding to multiple fires in the county. While several homes were spared, one home was destroyed. On Saturday at 7  a.m.
