Online absentee ballot request portal open for primary

Any registered and eligible North Carolina voter may now request an absentee ballot for the 2022 primary election online through the North Carolina Absentee Ballot Portal, available on the State Board of Elections’ website. The State Board launched the secure absentee request portal in 2020.

Over-correcting while driving can be dangerous

Over-correcting a vehicle is a dangerous yet very common mistake made by many drivers, especially teenagers or new drivers. Overcorrection refers to a motorist grabbing the steering wheel and abruptly turning it in the opposite direction from where the car is going.

Cable Cove Campground will not re-open in 2022

 U.S. Forest Service officials announced they will not re-open Cable Cove Campground located in Robbinsville, N.C. on the Nantahala National Forest in 2022. The aging facility has more than $184,300 in current, existing deferred maintenance needs.

Patrons encouraged to get new library cards

Nantahala Regional Library will soon begin using a new Integrated Library System to manage their collection. This system, NC Cardinal, will allow library users to not only access regional resources but will also allow library users to reserve items statewide.
