Burn prevention with children

If you have children in your home, I know that you want to keep them safe and help them live to their full potential. According to the CDC, every day more than 300 children from the ages of 0-19 are in emergency rooms for burn-related injuries.

Performing arts camp for children to be held in June

Wonderland is coming to town. On Saturday, Feb. 26, Robbie Dernehl will audition children for her super popular Summer Performing Arts Camp. This will be the 14th year of the camp where children get the chance to train and perform in a real working theater.

Clay County native researching genetic mutations

Researching genetic mutations and living in California were not what Heather Richbourg Atwood, PhD, imagined she would be doing with her life. As a young girl in Clay County, she wanted to be a veterinarian. Not only was she an avid horsewoman, she loved all animals.

Masks now optional on school campus

In a called meeting Monday night, Clay County School Board members unanimously voted to end the requirement for face coverings and make them optional effective Tuesday, Feb. 22. However, masks must still be worn on school buses.

Officers distinguished for life-saving procedures

Law enforcement officers are often lauded for drug arrests, but it’s rare they receive recognition for saving lives as a result of those drugs. That’s what happened at the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday, Feb. 17.
