Final concert of summer series is Friday

The 2021 CCCRA Friday Summer Concert Series on the square in Hayesville winds up Friday, Sept.4 with perennial favorite Gnarly Fingers taking the gazebo stage at 7 p.m.

Pumpkin Trail begins

The Clay County Chamber of Commerce is once again sponsoring a pumpkin decorating contest. The goal is to have businesses create a fun attraction that residents and visitors will want to appreciate, celebrate and even vote on. Businesses decorate a pumpkin to display from Thursday, Oct.

Future Welding Program at Hayesville High School

Clay County Schools is currently developing a Welding Program at Hayesville High School as part of our Career Technical Education (CTE) program. The Agriculture Mechanics class contains a Welding Component as part of the curriculum.

Eight North Carolina Schools Named 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools

U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona today recognized 325 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2021, including eight schools in North Carolina. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups.

Burn prevention with children

If you have children in your home,you want to keep them safe and help them live to their full potential. According to the CDC, every day, more than 300 children from the ages of 0-19 are in emergency rooms for burn related injuries.

Georgia Unemployment Rate Drops for 16th Straight Month to 3.5%

Governor Brian P. Kemp applauded Georgia's unemployment rate dropping for the sixteenth straight month to 3.5% for August 2021, down from 3.7% in July. "Georgians are getting back to work and our economy continues to beat expectations," said Governor Brian P. Kemp.

Grove honored for service

Members of the Brasstown Fire Department’s former Board of Directors, joined former officers,  Clay County Fire and Rescue Asst. Chief Chris Denton, and Clay County Commissioner Clay Logan met recently to honor long-time Brasstown Fire Department volunteer Judy Grove.
