Candidate filing period begins in less than two weeks

By Becky Long Publisher   It may seem early, but local politics is about to rise to the forefront as filing for office gets underway in nine days. It begins Monday, Dec. 1 and ends Friday, Dec. 19 at the Clay County Board of Elections office.

By Becky Long Publisher   Hayesville’s municipal election is Tuesday, Nov. 4. The three council members are running unopposed; however, two candidates are competing for the mayor’s seat. Four of the candidates currently serve on the town board.

Friday’s Trick or Treat on the Square on Oct. 31 will bring an abundance of clever costumes to Hayesville all worn by the young and the young at heart. The event is held 5-8 p.m. Set-up and booth decorating will be from 4-4:45 p.m.
