Fire temporarily closes restaurant

By Becky Long Publisher   Hayesville Grill will likely be closed for several months after the restaurant suffered extensive damage from a fire on Thursday, Sept. 14. The fire occurred between 1- 2 p.m. just after the lunch hour rush.

Remembering lives lost on 9/11

By Becky Long Publisher   Clay County Sheriff’s Office hosted a ceremony Monday in remembrance of the victims of 9/11. The death toll from that day’s attacks numbered 2,996. In his opening remarks Sheriff Mark Buchanan called the terrorists acts evil.

Hayesville Town Council tables short term rental ordinance

By Lorraine Bennett Staff Writer   The Hayesville Town Council Monday was forced to table a proposed ordinance applying short term rental standards after about 20 people showed up mostly to question whether the limitation should be as short as 30 days or a longer length of time, preferably 90.
