COVID numbers plummet after deadly 2-month period

COVID-19 numbers continue to decline in Clay County, but the latest surge affected Clay County unlike any other. Clay County Health Department reported the 39th and 40th COVID-19-related deaths of county residents on October 8. The county's COVID-19 death toll stood at 20 as of Aug.

Settlement reached in custody case

Parties in a civil lawsuit regarding the use of custody and visitation agreements have reached a settlement. Heaven Cordell has agreed to settle all claims against Cherokee County and Department of Social Services personnel she sued last year.

Some town residents take advantage of offer of cash for proof of vaccination

So far, 88 Hayesville town residents have taken advantage of the town council’s offer last month to receive a $100 “token of appreciation” for offering proof they have been vaccinated against the Covic-19 virus.
