WNC Residents Unite for a World without Breast Cancer This Saturday

WHAT: Hundreds of local breast cancer survivors, caregivers, volunteers, and corporate and community members are uniting to make the greatest impact to save lives and ensure no one faces breast cancer alone at the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk.

Portable Fire Extinguishers

A portable fire extinguisher can save lives and property by putting out a small fire or containing it until the fire department arrives. However, please keep in mind that portable fire extinguisher do have limitations.

Free medicine lock boxes distribution Saturday

One in five young adults has misused a prescription drug, according to StopMedicineAbuse.org. In addition, many small children have been poisoned by ingesting medicines which can look like candy or other goodies to them.

Truck driver training crucial to the supply chain, economy

According to the N.C. Trucking Association, North Carolina needs about 12,000 more truck drivers to keep up with current industry demands. Truck drivers have the potential to make $50,000 or more in their first year of driving.
