Roberts, Shook sizzle in lopsided win

By Gary Corsair Sports Writer   Senior Lila Roberts scorched the nets for 20 points and freshman Ava Shook added 15 on perfect field goal shooting as Hayesville’s varsity girls crushed Andrews, 47-28, in Smoky Mountain Conference play Saturday.

Hayesville wrestlers defeat Cats, Braves

By Daniel Sherlin Guest Writer   The Smoky Mountain Conference wrestling tournament was held at Robbinsville on  Saturday, Jan. 21.  As a team, Hayesville defeated Andrews and Cherokee.

JV Yellow Jackets handle Highlands, 30-19

By Gary Corsair Sports Writer   Hayesville’s JV boys basket ballers outscored Highlands 25-12 in the second half Thursday as the Yellow Jackets posted a 30-19 triumph on the Highlanders’ floor. Riley Rogers triggered the victory with 9 points, all in the decisive fourth period.

Jackets flirt with 100 in downing Eagles

By Gary Corsair Sports Writer   Hayesville's varsity boys racked up 87 big ones at Nantahala on Tuesday, even though the Yellow Jackets starting five played less than half the game and the clock ran during dead balls and free throws once the two teams were 40 points apart.

HMS Lady Jackets fall to Andrews

By Deby Jo Ferguson Sports writer   On Monday, Jan. 9 the Lady Jackets hosted Andrews in a regular season conference game grabbing the win 50-33. Kaydence Morrow mopped the floor with her offensive skill by sinking 20 points for Hayesville. Morrow grabbed two rebounds and two assists.

HMS boys fall to Andrews in first round

By Deby Jo Ferguson Sports Writer   Hayesville Middle School boys fell to the Andrews Wildcats on Jan. 14 in the first round of the Smoky Mountain Conference 53-27. Andrews came off the bench controlling the nets in the first half of the game, gaining the lead 33-12 at halftime.
