Locals medal in weekend pickleball tournament

By Sally Brock Guest Writer   Several local players from the Mountain Lakes pickleball group in Hayesville and the Valley River Picklers in Murphy joined players from across the southern states to compete in a three day tournament in Hiawassee on Sept. 30 through Oct. 2.

Jackets look to muzzle Bulldogs in SMC battle

By Gary Corsair Staff Writer   Hayesville football fans never want to play Murphy, but the potent Bulldogs will be welcomed with open arms this Friday night. Granted, the welcome will be begrudging, but the Yellow Jackets are ready to play a team that’s lost two games.

JVs come up short at Robbinsville, 20-6

By Gary Corsair Staff Writer   Hayesville had a mountain of motivation entering its final JV football game of the season. Unfortunately for the young Yellow Jackets, heart and soul weren’t enough to overcome the size, speed and experience of Robbinsville.

By Gary Corsair Staff Writer   Hayesville's explosive offense produced a 14-0 first-quarter lead and an inspired defense repeatedly shut the door in the Yellow Jackets' 20-6 JV football Smoky Mountain Conference victory over visiting Cherokee on Thursday.

Ladies Golf Association wrapping up its season

By Evie Miller Guest Writer   The Chatuge Shores Ladies Golf Association held their weekly league play on Tuesday, Sept. 20, which was the last regular league play for the 2022 season. It has been a wonderful season in Hayesville with a group of ladies who just love to play golf.

Mountain Harbor golf championship results
