Drive-thru Halloween event slated

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office has established a community service for local youth called Cops for Kids, according to a press release from Sheriff Bobby Deese. One of its first events will launch Halloween night.

By Liz Hickok Guest Writer   Hayesville resident, Sara McCaslin, 16, received a double lung transplant at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Children’s Hospital on Aug. 22. Sara is the twin sister of Seth and the daughter of Erik and Laura McCaslin.

Hinton Center posts hours for firewood lot

The Firewood Ministry Lot at Hinton Rural Life Center is open for local residents who use wood as the primary source for heating their homes but are not able to afford it. Beginning in October, Hinton’s firewood lot will be open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays.
