Jacket high school track teams take first place

By Amy Trout Guest Writer   On Wednesday, March 27 the Hayesville High School track team hosted Robbinsville, Highlands, Tri County Early College and Andrews. Both boys and girls teams took first place overall.

Softball squad striving to improve

By Gary Corsair Sports Writer   Big innings continue to doom Hayesville’s young softball team. Last Wednesday, Hiwassee Dam used an 8-run inning to triumph 12-2. Thursday, Hiwassee Dam scored big in the two final innings — 7 in the fifth and 6 in the sixth — on the way to a 20-6 decision.

Tough outing for Hayesville Middle School track teams

By Brooke Reynolds Sports Writer   Hayesville Middle School Track traveled to Cherokee, N.C. on Monday, March 25 to compete against Cherokee, Swain, Canton Middle and Murphy. After injuries of some players HMS still finished second in both the womens and mens teams.

Short week for HMS Jackets ends in win

By Brooke Reynolds Sports Writer   The Hayesville Middle School Lady Yellow Jackets traveled to Hiwassee Dam/Ranger on Thursday, March 28. The Lady Jackets were set to play HDR on Tuesday, March 26 but mother nature had other plans as that game was rained out.

Chatuge Shores golf season is open

By Richard Purdy Guest Writer   The Chatuge Shores Men’s Golf Association announces the start of their 2024 summer season  began April 1  and runs through Thursday, Oct. 31. Their winter season which runs from November through March is just wrapping up.

Hayesville clips Union to extend win streak
