Amateur night to be hosted on Hiawassee Square

Amateur night featuring local students with lots of talent will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, July 10. You will be able to pick the first and second place winners by voting on a ballot and it promises to be a very entertaining evening.

Stacie Ledford and Teresa Burch Ledford, on behalf of Rock Bottom Recovery and Support, Inc., received a donation from the Ron Beal Foundation and contribution from Brenda and Jackie Sellers to help facilitate the faith-based services offered to people with substance use disorders.

Festival on the Square begins Friday, July 9

The Hayesville Festival on the Square is back for its 40th year. Kicking off with a two hour concert at 7 p.m. Friday, July 9 features Moe Buckner and Our Way Band. Bring a chair or dance in the street. Festival hours are from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 10 and Sunday, July 11.

Clay Schools one of 79 ‘Accomplished Districts’ in

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards has honored Clay County Schools as being an "Accomplished District." The school system was recognized as one of only 79 districts across the nation in which at least 20 percent of teachers have achieved National Board certification.
