By Sheriff Mark Buchanan Guest Writer   In keeping with the fantastic article in last week’s edition of the Clay County Progress about the hard work of Clay County Fire and Rescue, I thought it appropriate to also let our citizens know what their Sheriff’s Office has done this last fiscal year.

Clay County Commission Agenda

The Clay County Board of Commissioners will hold their regular scheduled meeting at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, July 20 in the multi-purpose room, located at 261 Courthouse Drive. The tentative agenda is as follows: • Prayer. • Pledge of Allegiance. • Public comment.

Clay County Arrest Report

The following warrants were issued through the Clay County Sheriff’s Office for July 10-16. All individuals are considered innocent unless proven otherwise in court. • Lilyaunna Kiff-Hall, 22, of Murphy, N.C., failure to appear on a felony. Released on July 11.

A clock on town square could be bow on the package

By Lorraine Bennett Staff Writer   Adding a large clock on the courthouse square was an idea presented to Hayesville Town Council members at Monday evening’s meeting. Historic Hayesville Inc. members Bob Hanson and Stu Jenner wanted to know if the council would approve it.

Man awakened by officers faces charges

Staff Reports   A Clay County man faces multiple charges after he was discovered slumped behind  the steering wheel of a 1997 Ford 150 truck with the engine still running, according to a release from Sheriff Mark Buchanan. The incident occurred around 4:25 p.m.

Weekend brings Festival on the Square
