Ellen Engelmann, Hayesville High School art teacher, was chosen as HHS Teacher of the Year by her coworkers, HHS principal Stacey Overlin presented a certificate and flowers to her on behalf of the school.

Prayer teams visited Clay County during their Prayers for America journey. During their stay here prayers were shared in Clay, Cherokee and Graham counties and the Eastern Band of Cherokee before moving on to Charlotte, N.C.

Participants gather at the 22 flags symbolizing the number of veterans on average committing suicide each day. Saturday’s walk to raise suicide awareness generated solid participation from various members of the community including the sponsors’ American Legion Post 532, Clay Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office along with representation from Towns County law enforcement.
