Hayesville Council awards grants, approves new gazebo handrails

By Lorraine Bennett Staff Writer   At the Monday, June 12 meeting the Hayesville Town Council awarded grants to four local groups and voted to install new safety handrails at the gazebo on the town square.

Three RDA board members resign

By Becky Long Publisher   The Clay County Rural Development Authority board underwent a major change in the make-up of its board. Three of its five board of directors recently resigned and those spots were filled by members of the county commission board.

By Lorrie Ross Staff Writer   One year of his young life is all Sam Davis needed to create a plethora of memories. The Clay County man called the jungles of Vietnam home from June 25, 1967 to June 25, 1968 as part of the 174th Assault Helicopter Company.

Preparation begins for property revaluation

Woman found dead in her home

Staff Reports   While conducting a welfare check at a local residence, sheriff’s officers found a woman and her dog dead in her home. Both appeared to have been deceased for several months.

Sprucing up at Moss Library

Moss Memorial Library in Hayesville is getting a new look. Workers construct a new cement sidewalk as part of phase one of a remodeling project. Penland Builders employees were working hard getting the stucture ready for new concrete to be poured.
