Members created a hay maze, obstacle course and entered a float. A highlight of the event was the raffle for a 1948 Ford 8N that had been restored by George Kresage of Murphy. The lucky winner was Florida resident, Maitland Dampier. Proceeds from the event go to the Dwight Smith Scholarship Fund. About 28 tractors

EMC meeting returns

By Lorrie Ross Staff Writer   After a four year hiatus, Blue Ridge Mountain Electric Membership Corporation returned to the Anderson Music Hall at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds for its 83rd annual meeting on Saturday, Sept. 24.

Hayesville Teachers go ‘above and beyond’

Marcia Barnes Staff Writer   Recognition was given to outstanding teachers who demonstrated going above and beyond normal classroom duties as the 2022-2023 school year opened in Clay County Schools during Monday’s school board meeting.

Celebration of Pets, a fun way to help

Tractor Parade and Agricultural Day Saturday on town square

By Tyler Osborn Guest Writer   Join us for the 16th annual Tractor Parade & Agricultural Day on the square. The day will include games, music, informational displays, hay maze, a combine simulator and of course the biggest parade of tractors you may have seen.
An expected crowd of more than 10,000 will be able to see many static aircraft, an airshow and enjoy a day celebrating veterans from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Western Carolina Regional Airport.

HMS Teacher goes global

Hayesville High School’s Lila Roberts is crowned queen during the 2022 Homecoming ceremony at Frank R. Long Memorial Stadium where the Jackets lost a tough battle to Tuscola. Lila is the daughter of Jason and Anissa Roberts. See more photos from the ceremony on page A10. Game coverage is on B1.
