Several injuries result from Saturday crash

By Becky Long Publisher   A head-on car accident Saturday evening sent several people to the hospital and left one man charged with reckless driving. Alvaro Antonio Jimenez-Cortez was traveling east toward Hayesville at about 4:30 p.m.

New school project on track

By Marcia Barnes Staff Writer   Funds for the new Hayesville Intermediate School are available and a called meeting to select an architect firm to design plans for the school will be held in the boardroom at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8. This was confirmed at Monday evening’s school board meeting.
Karissa Teague has been named the Hayesville High School Assistant Principal. Teague recently completed a one year full-time assistant principal internship with Murphy High School in Cherokee County.

Local trucker seriously injured in accident

Clay County residents are rallying to help a local man who sustained life-threatening injuries while in Colorado transporting a load of freight as part of his long-haul truck driving business. James “Jim” Lindsay, of Qualla Road, remains hospitalized in Westminster, Colo.

Festival on the Square a success

Despite a thunderstorm stopping the music of Moe Buckner and Our Way Band shortly after the Friday night street dance began, crowds still came out for the main event of the 2022 Festival on the Square, all day Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10.
