School recognizes Teachers of the Year

By Marcia Barnes Staff Writer   Teachers of the Year were recognized by the Clay County Board of Education and with the unrestrained, respectful applause of those present at the Monday, May 23 meeting. Five teachers and one teacher assistant were individually honored and received an award.

‘Time is ideal for golf course hotel’

Gary Corsair Staff Writer   The time is right to open Clay County’s first nationally-known, full-service hotel, specifically a 65-room boutique lodging at Chatuge Shores Golf Course. That’s the finding of Key Advisors, Inc.

Steins & Wine event is Saturday

By Sandy Zimmerman Guest Writer   Preparation for the Spring Steins & Wine Around the Square event on Saturday, May 21 is complete with 10 beer, wine and mead vendors setting up inside the Historic Clay County Courthouse/Beal Center grounds in downtown Hayesville.

New sheriff elected in Clay County

By Becky Long Publisher   Mark Buchanan sailed past fellow candidates to seal the sheriff’s election, and the office,  in Tuesday’s primary. Meanwhile incumbents on the commission and school boards won the majority vote, though one race was by a sliver of a margin.
