Serious injuries spared in head-on

Tri-M music honor society inducts new members

Primary election is Tuesday

By Becky Long Publisher   Weeks, and in some cases, months of campaigning will wind down with the primary elections on Tuesday, May 17. So far 890 residents participated in early voting at the county Elections Board office. Of that total, 818 Republicans and 83 Democrat ballots have been cast.

Big power outage caused by wreck

By Becky Long Publisher   A single vehicle accident on Myers Chapel Road Tuesday afternoon caused a major power outage for Hayesville along with water leaks, forcing school to close an hour early. The outage was caused by an accident reported around 12:30 p.m.

Early voting numbers on par compared to previous primary

By Becky Long Publisher   Early voting has nearly one week under its belt and the numbers are about the norm. As of Tuesday,  393 voters had taken advantage of one-stop. Two years ago in the 2020 primary, early voting to date was 351. As expected, voters requesting a Republican ballot are high.

By Lorrie Ross Staff Writer   On Friday,  April 28 a press conference called by Clay County Schools Superintendent Dale Cole shared exciting news. Thanks to a $32 million grant awarded to Clay County Schools, another new school will soon grace the Clay County Schools campus.

Warm weather calls for outdoor grilling with friends and family. In fact, it is one of the most popular ways to cook food. A grill placed too close to anything that could potentially burn is a fire hazard. Grills can get very hot and cause serious burn injuries.
