Rusty, homemade bombs were duds

By Gary Corsair Staff Writer   Rumors that someone tried to blow up the post office in Warne are baseless. So says Clay County Sheriff Bobby Deese, whose department responded to the discovery of two crude, homemade bombs near the main road that runs through Warne on Wednesday, June 1.

Rescue workers return stranded child safely

By Becky Long Publisher   A Memorial Day weekend outing at Fires Creek turned serious when a young boy found himself stranded after crossing the high-rolling waters of the creek. Thanks to quick actions of local emergency workers, the boy was rescued and returned safely to family and friends.

Bennie Louise Mull Yaus, 87, of Charlotte, N.C., passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Bennie Louise was born on July 5, 1934 in Hayesville. She was one of eleven children born to the late Joseph and Martha Mull.
