Hayesville takes down rival

The Lady Yellow Jacket basketball team welcomed Murphy to Hayesville Middle School Monday, Nov. 18 for the third game of the season. Hayesville coach Tammy Dills and her team had a full week to prepare for the game and the extra work paid off.

Bulldogs bounce the Jackets

For the first time in 12 years, the varsity Yellow Jacket football team played host to a first-round playoff game. Hayesville faced off with the Albemarle High School Bulldogs Friday, Nov. 15. The Jackets entered the playoffs with a record of 7-4 and Albemarle wrapped up the regular season at 4-7.

Season over for Jacket soccer

A history making soccer season has come to an end for the Hayesville Yellow Jackets. On Saturday, Nov. 9 Hayesville hosted Queen’s Grant in round two of the state playoffs. After receiving a bye in the opening round, the Jackets were favored to take down the Stallions.

Hayesville teams finish in top 10

Hayesville cross country athletes hit the trail for the final time of the season Saturday, Nov. 9.  Seven  runners from the men’s team and seven from the women’s team competed in the state championship meet held in Kernersville, N.C.

Former Jacket now world champ

The 2019 Scottish Masters Athletics Heavy Events World Championship, often referred to as the Highland Games, was dominated by a former Hayesville High athlete.  Clay County native Randy McClure competed in nine events during the championship games held in Tucson, Ariz. Nov. 2-3.

Swain stops the Jackets 49-28

The 7-3 varsity Hayesville Yellow Jacket football team took to the field for the final game of the regular season Friday, Nov. 9 as they hosted the Swain County Maroon Devils. Both teams entered the game with a 3-2 record in the Smoky Mountain Conference and tied for the third place.

HMS Yellow Jackets stumble

Hayesville Middle School boy’s basketball team hit the road Thursday, Nov.7 for their second game of the season. The Yellow Jackets survived a scare in their season-opener with a 3 point win over Andrews but could not defend the offensive attack of Hiwassee Dam/Ranger to improve their win-record.

Win number two for Lady Jackets

On Thursday, Nov. 8 the Lady Yellow Jacket basketball team from Hayesville Middle School traveled to Cherokee County to face the combined team of Hiwassee Dam/Ranger. After their season-opening win earlier in the week, the Lady Jackets hoped to keep the success rolling.

Jackets hold on for victory

Taylor McClure turns and drives to the basket against Andrews.  Basketball season got underway for Hayesville Middle School Monday, Nov. 4 when they hosted Andrews. After a thrilling four quarters of round ball, the Jackets were victorious 36-33.
