Jackets now ranked in top 10

The varsity Yellow Jacket soccer team is having a memorabe season to say the least. Hayesville improved its win total in the latest Smoky Mountain Conference matches. On Wednesday, Oct. 16 the Jackets successfully defended their home pitch against Murphy by the final of 4-0.

Jackets survive for win over Andrews

Fans at Frank R. Long Stadium got a free stress test Friday, Oct. 18 when the Yellow Jackets hosted Andrews. After the teams swapped scores early, defenses took over late as drama continued to build.

Catamounts fall to Citadel

JV volleyball is on a roll

The Lady Yellow Jacket JV volleyball team picked up two big wins last week. Hayesville opened the week in Swain County Tuesday, Oct. 8 with a 2-0 win. That was followed up by a 2-0 Lady Jacket win Thursday, Oct. 10 over Hiwassee Dam.

Davenport repeats as champ

Chatuge Shores Golf Course held its members’ only 2019 club championship Oct. 12-13. with 36 holes for two divisions. The Championship Flight was played from the blue tees and the Senior Championship was played from the gold tees each in accordance with all United States Golf Association rules.

Lady Jackets defend home court

With the regular season winding down, the varsity volleyball team from Hayesville High faced a pair of opponents, looking to improve their record. On Tuesday, Oct. 8 the Lady Yellow Jackets swarmed into Swain County to face the Lady Devils. Swain managed to win the marathon, five-set match 3-2.

Braves shutdown Jackets

After a promising start to the season with a blowout win over Rosman, Hayesville’s JV football team has suffered through a losing streak. The Yellow Jackets made the journey to Cherokee Thursday, Oct. 10 to face the Braves in hopes of returning to the win column.

HMS wins again

The cross country teams from Hayesville Middle School have had a strong season. On Tuesday, Oct. 8 Hayesville runners journeyed to Robbinsville to compete with Smoky Mountain Conference foes. Once again the Lady Jackets stood atop the podium with a victory.

Hayesville’s varsity football team had a tall task before them Friday, Oct. 11 as they faced the defending state champions in Murphy.

Brandon Overton tames Tri County

Brandon Overton added his name to the prestigious list of winners of the Tarheel 50 as he dominated the 53-lapper earning him $10,053 for the victory Friday, Oct. 11 at Tri County Racetrack in Brasstown.
