Varsity soccer tops conference

The men’s varsity Yellow Jacket soccer team contniued it’s quest to be one of the elite programs in the Smoky Mountain Conference with three conference matches. Things didn’t start off on the right foot when Hayesville suffered a 2-1 road-loss to Blue Ridge Early College Monday, Sept. 30 .

JV volleyball doubles up

Hayesville’s JV volleyball team had one of its toughest tests of the season Thursday, Sept. 26 when Murphy invaded The Hive. The Lady Jackets defended their home court with a 2-0 sweep of the Lady Bulldogs. Hayesville then hosted the Lady Panthers Monday, Sept. 30 for a non-conference showdown.

Lady Jackets pick-up wins

A winning team quickly becomes the target for opponents who are looking to nail down a season-changing win. The Lady Jacket volleyball squad from Hayesville Middle School might as well have a bullseye on their jerseys thanks to their winning ways.

Hughes, Ashe lead HMS

Hayesville Middle School cross country runners had the opportunity to run on familiar ground Thursday, Sept. 26.  The annual Carney Classic brought in hundreds of runners  Emma Ashe picks up the pace as she heads toward the final turn.

Lady Jackets sting Panthers

The varsity Lady Yellow Jacket volleyball team had mixed results as they faced two local opponents. Hayesville hosted their rival Murphy Thursday, Sept. 26 in a match that saw the Lady Bulldogs get the 3-0 win. The Lady Jackets managed to bounce back Monday Sept. 30 against Union County in The Hive.

Soccer wins opening match

Hayesville High School men’s soccer team finally got to start the season Thursday, Sept. 26 in Murphy. Scheduling issues meant the Jackets did not get to play any non-conference match to prepare for a Smoky Mountain Conference title run.

Lady Jackets win Carney Classic

The annual Carney Classic cross country meet was held Thursday, Sept. 26 and the atmosphere felt like a festival. Teams had tents set up, music was playing, deputies were directing traffic and runners were using every bit of spare room to warm up.

After a successful Mountain Lion Invitational last weekend, the Young Harris College men's and women's tennis teams travel to Sumter, South Carolina, this weekend (Sept. 27-30)  to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional Championships.

Cross country team has podium finish

Hayesville Middle School cross country runners traveled to Hiwassee Dam for a meet at Fields of the Woods on Wednesday, Sept. 18.  Both the boys’ and girls’ teams had solid performances on a difficult course.

Following an early-season bye week, the JV Yellow Jacket football team returned to action Thursday, Sept. 19 as they hosted Andrews. After being drastically outscored in the first half, Hayesville got Jacket Nation’s hopes up with a second-half rally.
