JV Jackets win pair at home

After a disheartening loss in their season opener against Franklin, the JV Yellow Jacket basketball team had two chances to get in the win column at home as they hosted Rosman Tuesday, Dec. 10 and Swain County Friday, Dec. 13.

Catamounts Visit Xavier on Wednesday

Cullowhee, N.C. – Western Carolina returns to action on Wednesday as the Catamounts journey to Cincinnati to face Xavier at 6:30 p.m. The Catamounts and Musketeers battle in front of a national television audience on FS1 with Alex Faust and Tim Miles calling the action.

With Robbinsville's state championship win over the weekend ending the 2019 football season, post season awards were finally released for the Smoky Mountain Conference. A total of eight Yellow Jackets were recognized for their consistent performances throughout the year.

Fischer named All-American by the United Soccer Coaches

Young Harris College's Dani Fischer has been selected to the NCAA Division II All-America second team by the United Soccer Coaches. It is the first All-America honor for Fischer after he was named to the All-Southeast Region first team by the United Soccer Coaches earlier this week.

Jackets 1-1 to start season

High hopes and expectations have filled pre-season conversations about the varsity Yellow Jacket basketball team. Time for speculation and “what ifs” ended when Hayesville got their season started Thursday, Dec. 5 with a 79-67 win over the Hawks in the Nantahala.

Lady Jackets suffer first loss

Following her team’s win over Martins Creek, Hayesville Middle School Lady Yellow Jacket head coach Tammy Dills said “Now we get into the meat of our schedule.” The Lady Yellow Jackets started that portion of the schedule Monday, Nov. 25 on the road against Robbinsville.

Cook takes wrestling win

On Saturday, Nov. 23 the Hayesville High School wrestling team made the trip to Bryson City to compete in the Maroon Devil Invitational. As a team, the Yellow Jackets finished the even in sixth place. Leading the team was Kevin Cook. Cook tore through his bracket to win his weight class.

Middle school Jackets get big win

The Hayesville Middle School Yellow Jacket basketball team traveled to Robbinsville Monday, Nov. 25 for a Smoky  Mountain Conference game that could potentially impact the championship at season’s end.
