Gary Barnett

Gary Barnett, 74, of Murphy passed away Tuesday, September 28, 2021 in an Asheville V.A. medical center. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Maggie’s Chapel Cemetery with the Revs.

Claude Lynn “Bud” Jones

Claude Lynn “Bud” Jones, 88 of Hayesville, passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at his residence.  Bud was born April 15, 1933 in Wachula, Florida, but had spent most of his youth in Bradenton, Florida.  He then served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War.

James Robert Cherry

James Robert Cherry, 74, of Hayesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 29, 2021. “Bud,” as he was more commonly known, was born on May 12, 1947, to the late Pearl and Margie Cherry.

Opal Horton Moore

Opal Horton Moore, 77, of Murphy passed away Saturday, September 25, 2021 in Union General Hospital. She was born in Cherokee County to the late Fred and Laura Edna Grogan Horton. Opal had worked for Levis in the textile industry.

Gary Lee Canup

Gary Lee Canup, age 64 of Hayesville, NC passed away Monday, September 27, 2021. He was born in Fort Leonardwood, Missouri to Annie Hall Canup of Hayesville, NC and the late Marvin Canup. Gary enjoyed camping, gardening and yard work. He loved playing baseball with his boys.

Julie Sellers Hewitt

Julie Sellers Hewitt, 61, passed away Sept. 18 in Seguin, Texas. She was born Aug. 24, 1960 in San Diego, Calif. to the late James Howard Sellers and Shelba Lou Watkins Sellers. She was a former resident of Hayesville. She graduated from Hayesville High School in 1978 and attended Mars Hill College.

Frank Fascella

Frank Fascella, age 83 of Hayesville, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in Union General Hospital. He was born in Middletown, NY to the late Paul and June Neely Fascella. Frank had worked for Perko Marine.

Dorothy Mae Roberts

Dorothy Mae Roberts, age 76, of Acworth, GA passed away at her home Saturday, September 4, 2021. She was a native of Warne, NC and a lifetime resident of Acworth, GA. Dorothy was of the Baptist Faith and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Lois King Leek

On September 15th, Lois King Leek, affectionately called “Grandmom” by most, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. She was 82 years old. She lived her life by the scripture verse, 1 Corinthians 16:14 “Let all that you do be done in love.

Jennifer Williams Gibson

Jennifer Williams Gibson, of Hayesville, NC, loving wife, mother, and teacher, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at North Georgia Medical Center, after a brief illness. Born in Laurinburg, NC, Jennifer was the daughter of Robert Williams and Sue Williams.
