YHC spreading holiday cheer

By Steve Esser Guest Writer   Get your fill of holiday cheer at Young Harris College this season, as the college is hosting two special events for the Christmas season. First up is the annual YHC Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1 at the chapel.

River Forecast Center begins second year

By Marcia Barnes  Staff Writer    The Tennessee Valley Authority officially opened its new River Forecast Center the week of Hurricane Helene. The center located at the TVA Knoxville Office Complex was finished the Sunday before the storm and put it to the test.

Tragedy strikes at Lake Chatuge

Staff Reports   Preliminary reports suggested there was no foul play in the death of a local man who was found in Lake Chatuge on Oct. 25, according to Clay County Sheriff Mark Buchanan. The man was Lewis Preston Stallings, 69, from Tallahassee, Fla.
