Unaffiliated voters surpass Democrats in N.C.

Unaffiliated voters have overtaken Democrats as the largest voting group in North Carolina, according to the latest data from the N.C. State Board of Elections. The number of unaffiliated voters now stands at 2,503,997, compared to 2,496,434 Democrats and 2,192,073 Republicans.

State of emergency continues with new ways to measure COVID

Gov. Roy Cooper said North Carolina's state of emergency will continue, despite declining COVID numbers. The announcement came during a news conference Thursday, March 17, announcing new guidelines to measure COVID-19 levels.

Biologists at the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission say if you find a bear den, leave it alone. Black bears are very resourceful in finding places to shelter late December through April as cold weather lingers and cubs are born.

Girl Scouts Turn 110 Years Old

The week of March 6-12, Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont will officially celebrate 110 years of the Girl Scout organization. On March 12, 1912, founder Juliette Gordon Low organized the first Girl Scout troop in Savannah, Georgia.

Prominent Cherokee County Farm Conserved
