By Coach James Denton Guest Writer   Seventh grader Brett Hanna closed out his successful Hayesville Middle School wrestling season with a gold medal this year. His season record was 5-0 beating Robbinsville and Swain County by pins, Murphy by points and Andrews and Cherokee with a bye.

JV Jackets dominate, but Cherokee steals win

By Gary Corsair Sports Writer   Hayesville’s JV boys dominated Cherokee for two-and-a-half quarters Tuesday before the Yellow Jackets went cold and the Braves heated up and stormed back to eke out a 51-46 win. Hayesville led 33-13 midway through the third quarter but went cold for 3:41.

Shelton receives back to back championships

By Daniel Sherlin Guest Writer   On Friday, Dec. 22 the Hayesville Lady Wrestlers traveled to Swain County High school for the Annual Devil Girls Wrestling Tournament. Amyna Denton at 120 pounds had some serious opponents to go against.
