Chavis leads Mountain Lions in loss against Augusta

   The Young Harris College men's basketball team fell 112-58 to Augusta University Saturday (Jan. 8) afternoon in a Peach Belt Conferencecontest at the Christenberry Fieldhouse. Young Harris fell to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the Peach Belt, while No. 12 Augusta improved to 12-1 and 2-1.

Fast start leads Lakers past Mountain Lions 85-69

   Carl Cleveland led the Mountain Lions with 32 points as the Young Harris College men's basketball team fell to Clayton State University Wednesday, Jan. 5, in a Peach Belt Conference contest at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.

Lady Jackets defeat Andrews in tourney

With a hiatus in their Smoky Mountain Conference Schedule, the Lady Yellow Jackets participated in the Christmas Tournament hosted by Swain County High School during the Christmas break. Hayesville played three games in the tournament, dropping two, but ending on a high note with a win.

Yellow Jackets earn tournament win

In a change of pace, the varsity Yellow Jacket basketball team participated in the Swain County High School Christmas Tournament. Although it was a new event for the Jackets, the results looked the same as previous holiday tournaments, with Hayesville taking first place.

Cleveland named PBC Player of the Week

Young Harris College men's basketball player Carl Cleveland has been named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week ending Jan. 2. Cleveland scored a career-high 31 points to go with seven rebounds as the Mountain Lions lost to Flagler College Dec. 20.
