Lady Jackets hoping for strong second half

To summarize the early part of the Hayesville Middle School girls basketball season, they are holding a “just stand back and watch” 5-2 record. Coach Tammy Dills leads this impressive team with three eighth-graders; six seventh-graders and two ladies in the sixth grade filling her 11-player squad.

Ashe makes it official

Hayesville's star point guard Kolbe Ashe has taken the next step towards furthering his basketball career. On Wednesday, Nov.17, the senior signed to play for Palm Beach Atlantic. Ashe verbally committed to the West Palm Beach school in September, but made it official at the signing.

HMS basketball splits at Robbinsville

Blowing in like an autumn wind, basketball season has arrived to Clay County. In their latest quest for a hoops win, the teams from Hayesville Middle School traveled to Robinsville Monday, Nov. 15.

Sophomore Landon Hughes carried the torch for Hayesville’s mens cross country team this season. Hughes was regularly the highest finishing Yellow Jacket at Smoky Mountain Conference meets.

Catamounts Drop Road Match against UNCG

Sophomore libero Destinee Dorsey recorded a match-best 22 digs as Western Carolina dropped a 3-0 decision at UNCG (25-10, 25-20, 25-22) in Southern Conference action on Wednesday night in Fleming Gym. With the win, UNCG improves to 22-6 overall and 11-4 in league matches.
