Lady Jackets fall to Murphy’s pressure

Hayesville’s Varsity Lady Jackets fell to the Lady Bulldogs 67-37 on Friday, Dec.17, in Murphy. The first quarter started out with close play, although the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Jackets 13-9. Both offensive and defensive squads were playing their positions for tight play.

Lady Jackets dominate Nantahala

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, the Lady Jackets busted an 80-28 victory over Nantahala. "We were able to get some steals early with our defensive pressure and did a good job scoring off turnovers," said coach Chad McClure. "We did much better offensively, getting the ball inside we also rebounded well.

Yellow Jackets score 59-26 victory over Highlands

The Hayesville Yellow Jackets travelled to Highlands Friday, Dec. 10 and picked up a 59-26 victory. According to head coach Michael Cottrell, the game was a good on the road victory. “I was pleased with the defensive play from our guys most of the game.

Catching up with the HMS Jackets

Hayesville Middle School's Yellow Jacket basketball team began the season with a tough loss to rival Murphy, but then rebounded with a strong win against Hiwassee Dam/Ranger on the road.  Next up, Hayesville then faced a very athletic and fast Cherokee team who got out to a double-digit lead.

HMS Lady Jackets lower the boom on HDR

The HMS Lady Jackets hosted Hiwassee Dam/Ranger on Monday, Dec. 6. According to coach Tammy Dills, the team hoped this game would be a chance to redeem a loss to HDR earlier in the season. Fans witnessed an action-packed game. The Lady Jackets started off playing tough, but shots just didn't fall.

The Hayesville Middle School Lady Yellow Jacket basketball team was victorious over Murphy, 38-33, in the first game of the second half of the season. ‘Just stand back and watch’ was the name of the game as the Lady Jackets stayed on the heels of the Lady Bulldogs in a tough fought game.
