Hayesville High School sent the Yellow Jacket cross country runners to Bryson City Wednesday, Oct. 20 to compete in the Smoky Mountain Conference championship meet. The Lady Jackets lacked enough runners to be eligible for points and the Yellow Jackets ended the event in fifth place.

The HMS Lady Yellow Jackets boarded the bus on Monday, Oct. 11 and took off to play the Lady Bulldogs in Murphy for the first of three games last week. The start of the week was as easy-peasy as HMS beat Murphy 25-0 and 25-10.

Looking to turn around their Smoky Mountain Conference losing streak, the Hayesville Yellow Jacket varsity football team welcomed conference foe Swain County Friday, Oct. 15. After a solid start, the Jackets were unable to hold off the high-powered Maroon Devil offense and lost the contest 42-14.
