Yellow Jackets win three, remain undefeated

On Tuesday, Feb. 1, Hayesville’s Varsity Yellow Jackets crushed the Maroon Devils, 80-55 in a conference game on Swain’s turf.  On Friday, Feb. 4, the Jackets traveled to Cherokee for their second conference win for the week, defeating the Braves 64-36.

The jersey will take it’s rightful place in the showcase along with the other retired jerseys and school trophies.

Zach Cottrell, 2-time HHS Athlete of the Year No. 34 jersey retired

On Friday, Jan. 28 during games against Murphy, a special honor was given to Zach Cottrell, son of Michael and Jenny Cottrell in retiring his No. 34 jersey. Cottrell was a member of the Yellow Jackets basketball team from 2013-16.

Cherokee ends Jackets’ season

By Deby Jo Ferguson Sports Writer   The Hayesville Middle School Yellow Jackets fell to Cherokee 66-26 in their second round of the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament which was played at Hiwassee Dam School on Saturday, Jan. 22.

Jackets overwhelm the Highlanders

By Deby Jo Ferguson Sports Writer    Hayesville’s varsity boys overwhelmed the Highlanders in a non-conference game at home with a final score of 64-35. The Jackets took the floor in first quarter like a heard of buffalo, controlling the nets from every angle.

Payne makes history in loss

By Deby Jo Ferguson Sports Writer     Hayesville’s varsity lady Jackets fell to Highlands in a non-conference game at home on Monday, Jan. 24 with a score of 62-45. The Lady Jackets scored 8 points in the first quarter, but were unable to control Highlands on the defensive end.

Young Harris releases spring men's golf schedule

Young Harris College Director of Golf Eric Quinn has released the spring portion of the 2021-22 men's golf schedule. "Unfortunately we didn't have our best stuff this fall, but put in some great work this offseason," said Quinn.

Mountain Lions release 2022 spring women's golf schedule

Young Harris College Director of Golf Eric Quinn has released the spring portion of the 2021-22 women's golf schedule. "I am very excited to see what we can do this spring season with the addition of Emma Agermo back from injury," said Quinn.

Bobcats pick up 82-73 road win over Mountain Lions

Georgia College picked up an 82-73 Peach Belt Conference victory over the Young Harris College men's basketball team Wednesday (Jan. 19) evening at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.    The Bobcats improved to 13-3 overall and 5-2 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-13 and 0-7.
