HMS softball splits opening week

Spring and softballs are in the air in Hayesville. The Hayesville Middle School Lady Yellow Jacket softball team opened their season Tuesday, March 9 against Swain County. Power pitching from the Lady Devils shut down Hayesville’s offense and Swain won 16-0.

Faulkner Named to NABC All-District Team

Western Carolina redshirt senior guard Mason Faulkner was named to the NABC All-District 21 Second Team, it was announced today. The Glasgow, Ky., native earned NABC All-District honors for the second straight year after claiming a spot on the NABC All-District 21 First Team last season.

Bulldogs bite the Yellow Jackets

Hayesville’s annual meeting on the gridiron with the rival Bulldogs from Murphy took place Friday, March 12 at Frank R. Long Memorial stadium. Murphy got off to a strong start and never looked back, handing the Jackets their third loss of the season by the final of 54-21.

Jackets fall to defending champs

The Hayesville  Yellow Jackets welcomed Robbinsville to Frank R. Long Memorial Stadium Friday, March 5 for game two of the season.

Football season underway for Jackets

At 6:04 p.m. Monday, March 1, the 2020-21 football season got underway for the Hayesville Yellow Jackets. The squad, led by head coach Chad McClure, welcomed the Franklin Panthers for the first game of the season.

Sharp shooting ends Hayesville's season

On Thursday, Feb.25 the varsity Hayesville Yellow Jacket basketball team welcomed the Mountain Island Charter Raptors for round two of the North Carolina state playoffs. The Jackets entered the game with a 15-0 record and seeded No.2 while Mountain Island boasted a 13-2 record and a No.

Lady Jackets come close in finale

The Lady Yellow Jackets had a tough start to the basketball season, but as the week’s ticked by, steadily improved their performance. On Thursday, Feb. 18, the team hit the road to face Swain County in the final game of the season.

Ashe leads Jackets to round two of playoffs

The basketball season that almost wasn’t has moved onto the road to find a state champion. Hayesville High School’s Yellow Jackets ended the regular season with 71-62 come-from-behind win over Swain County. That win set Hayesville up for a No.

Jackets ready for round one

  Hayesville’s varsity Yellow Jacket basketball team is set for post-season action. The Jackets will host Winston-Salem Prep at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 in round one of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association 1A state championship tournament.
