Scoring improves for Lady Jackets

The varsity Lady Yellow Jacket basketball team got back in the win column Tuesday, Feb. 9 with a 58-23 road victory over Andrews. On Friday, Feb. 12, Hayesville traveled to Cherokee and after putting up a valiant effort, came up short to the Lady Braves 59-58.

The Hayesville Yellow Jackets have clinched their third straight Smoky Mountain Conference championship and have taken their undefeated record all the way to the No.1 ranking for 1A. The road to perfection continues for the varsity Yellow Jacket basketball team thanks to their most recent wins.

JV Jackets lose two close ones

The junior varsity Yellow Jacket basketball team was riding a wave of momentum when they faced off with Murphy Friday, Feb. 5 in The Hive. In a very physical match-up the Bulldogs managed to eek out a win, 44-41. On Saturday, Feb.

Tough schedule tests the Lady Jackets

The varsity Yellow Jackets have had flashes of greatness this season, but those bright moments have been neutralized by some dark trials. That was the case when Hayesville squared off with Murphy and Robbinsville. On Friday, Feb. 5 the defending state champion Lady Bulldogs visited The Hive.

HHS Jackets ranked No. 2

As of Tuesday, Feb. 9 the MaxPreps rankings have the Hayesville Yellow Jackets in the No. 2 slot in the 1A class behind Lincoln Charter. Across all classes, the Jackets find themselves in the top 30. Hayesville used a 60-46 win over Murphy Friday, Feb.

Jackets in with the win crowd

With the postponement of the season, COVID regulations and player transfers, there were many questions about the varsity Yellow Jacket basketball team in the pre-season. Those questions have now been answered in a big way.

Middle school Jackets on a streak

It's been a trying start to the season for Hayesville's middle school Yellow Jackets. Inexperience mixed with limited pre-season activity has forced players to learn on the fly. As of last week, it looks like things are starting to click for the group. Against Martins Creek Thursday, Jan.

Lady Jackets are the pride of HMS

Hayesville has a reputation of having a strong basketball program and the Lady Yellow Jackets from Hayesville Middle School are continuing that tradition. The team hosted rival Towns County Tuesday, Jan.

Due to COVID regulations, a limited number of fans have been able to attend the JV Yellow Jacket basketball games, but those who have been able to enter the gyms and fans watching at home have to like what they've seen.
